The Project: Operational Excellence 1 (OE1) – Project Management Standardization and Optimization for a $60 Billion, International, Fortune 500 Company

Our Plan of Action:

Jim was recruited to Texas in May 2008 for this project as Sr. Consultant with Plexent. Jim acted as Process Engineer and Principal Architect of the Dell Project Management Framework. Mr. Bates worked this project to completion with a final turn over to Dell staff in December of 2008.

His role included:

  • Conducting international workshops with subject matter experts to gain current process mapping
  • Engineering future mode of operations and project processes
  • Creating the DPMF document based on PMI’s PMBOK®
  • Coordinating with tool stream on requirements and specs
  • Designing training material for the people stream
  • Playing a key role in Dell realizing $15 million in savings in the inaugural year
